A Word from Kimberly

Putting words to paper is my happy place. I have been writing most of my life, so it was only natural to turn to my keyboard when processing my mom’s Lewy body dementia diagnosis.

The dementia journey is a painful one for those living with the disease as well as their loved ones. Perhaps the only thing that can make it more tolerable is knowing you are not alone in it. This is where A Guide for Lewy Body Dementia Caregivers: Caring with Compassion was born.

I pray this book reminds you that you are not alone and that even in the darkest parts of Lewy body dementia, there is still hope.

What Readers Are Saying

This book is a must have for those struggling with a loved one specifically with Lewy Body or other forms of dementia. Kimberly's guide includes practical advice in each chapter to encourage, enlighten, and explain what a caregiver or individual might expect on this journey. Even if you do not have first hand experience with this terrible disease, this book helps you understand how to be a better friend/support to someone who is a caregiver or suffering with LBD or other memory-related disease. Every chapter ends with a practical strategy or simple step that can be implemented to advocate for those struggling as the patient or provide perspective as the caretaker. I particularly enjoyed the length of each chapter - short enough to be read in a busy care-givers schedule and hearty enough to fill your soul with optimism and courage even in the midst of sorrow. There is nothing wasted in God's economy. Pellicore reminds us that He sees us even in our hardest times.

"How is it possible to miss my mom when she is so close that I can reach out and hold her hand?" writes Pellicore in her very personal exploration of what it means to be a caregiver for a family member slipping away into dementia. Through the heartfelt telling of her own story about caring for her mother, she offers not only emotional support, but chapter after chapter of practical advice. Caring for someone through this extended illness takes tremendous courage, great heart, and steadfast resolve.
